The UK’ s Modern Industrial Strategy, focused on increasing business investment and growing the industries of the future, gave us access to Innovate UK funding and wider government innovation support, enabling Memorify to develop proprietary technology, create valuable British intellectual property and build a diverse, multidisciplinary team. Those early interventions gave us the confidence to pursue ambitious research and development that might otherwise have remained out of reach for a young company.
Too often, public funding is portrayed as a cost. In reality, it is an investment in future industries. The technologies that will define the next generation of economic growth – whether in Artificial Intelligence, healthcare, advanced manufacturing or climate solutions – require patience, experimentation and sustained support. The UK has increasingly recognised that helping innovative startups scale is an investment in future jobs, productivity and global competitiveness.
