On this month’ s front cover, we feature Alan Barrett, TWM Solicitors’ Head of IT, which is a solicitors based in Surrey in the UK. It made a strategic decision to exit on-premises infrastructure and transition to cloud and Software-as-a-Servicebased solutions. The firm chose Microsoft AVD as its desktop virtualisation platform and to support the AVD rollout, all endpoints needed upgrading. It found 10ZiG through Softcat and procured approximately 240 10ZiG devices. These devices serve a single purpose and function as highly managed secure terminals that simply open an AVD session and nothing else. Barrett discusses the partnership. Go to page 14 to read more.
Our Talking Point is from Thomas Phillips, Founder and Marketing Expert at DTC SEO Agency, who discusses how small businesses are being urged not to repeatedly resubmit their Google Business Profile product listings after a bug appears to have left thousands of products stuck in‘ pending’ status. Mid-market businesses are often grouped into the same category as large enterprises. These businesses may have more than the defined number of employees to make it technically an SME but they do not have the same budgets at the very large enterprises. They also have hugely different technology needs compared to huge corporate companies. Musidora Jorgensen, UK & Ireland Country Leader, Freshworks, discusses the challenges affecting mid-market companies with regards to AI adoption and what can be done about it. Turn to page 24 to read more.
Charlotte Ridley founded Memorify, a UK-based start-up which combines neuroscience, psychology and technology, to create a platform which helps people organise and reconnect with their most meaningful memories. Five years on from inception, it has grown to a team of 13, secured strategic partnerships with Kodak Moments and is backed by Innovate UKM. Ridley discusses how the UK’ s combination of world-class talent, research, innovation funding and capital markets makes it one of the best places to build globally competitive technology companies.
