Cross-border payments solution expands into UK market to support SMEs
C ross-border payments company, Currenxie, has launched its business account solution in the UK for SMEs looking to transact globally and enter new markets.
Currenxie, a FinTech company founded in 2014, specialises in simplifying global payments for businesses. The company provides comprehensive solutions for SMEs when collecting, exchanging and sending money worldwide.
As businesses face constant pressure to keep pace with international competitors and drive growth, they are also hit with increased supply chain costs. The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply recently warned that consumer goods prices are likely to soar during 2026, with over a fifth( 22 %) of supply chain businesses reporting shipping costs have increased by more than 10 %.
Increased supply chain costs and continued economic uncertainty mean businesses must look to boost margins where possible to remain competitive. For merchants operating internationally, this includes sourcing suppliers from more cost-effective markets and growing its customer base through new markets – to maximise profitability, reducing foreign exchange( FX) costs is key.
Businesses are typically reliant on their bank for critical high value transfers and cross-border payments, however this may not always be the best option, particularly for SMEs, with higher costs and slower processing times.
SMEs need support from payments providers able to offer simple, secure and cost-effective options which unlock new markets, meet consumer demand and drive growth – without partnering with these FinTech solutions, businesses risk putting themselves at a competitive disadvantage.
Currenxie’ s deep tech expertise, strategic guidance and payment solutions enable SMEs to operate like a bigger player with access to the same level of support, knowledge and product range that would otherwise be unavailable to them through traditional payments providers.
The Currenxie Global Account offers seamless bank and wallet payments, foreign exchange and Visa Business cards for modern teams and businesses to manage expenses. This allows businesses to transact in different currencies and speeds up transactions, enabling SMEs to send and manage cross-border payments through a single, multi-currency platform and a real-time, 24 hours FX service.
Currenxie is trusted by over 14,000 clients across 100 countries and unlocks access to a full range of payments solutions empowering SMEs to operate globally. Since launch, Currenxie has transferred over US $ 17 billion for merchants in key markets across Europe, Asia and North America – the total value of funds processed grew by 23 % yearon-year in 2025.
Currenxie offers SMEs savings of up to 61 % on cross-border FX payments compared to competitors.
In Q1 2025, Currenxie announced it had been granted authorisation as an Electronic Money Institution( EMI) by the Central Bank of Ireland, enabling Currenxie to operate across the European Economic Area( EEA) from its Dublin regional headquarters. Currenxie also holds an EMI licence in the UK from the FCA, alongside licences and registrations across multiple jurisdictions, including Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, South Africa and the United States.
