On this month ’ s front cover , we feature Brian Perry , Operations Director at Boyce Precision Engineering , which provides precision engineering services for industries such as aerospace , defence , pharmaceutical and automotive . Perry explains how the Forterro MRP solution , 123Insight , has transformed its purchasing , stock holding and customer auditing . The company was using an in-house designed Access database , coupled with Excel spreadsheets and paper-based systems .
Immediately after implementing 123Insight , the company saw greater visibility and control across all areas . The process of generating purchase and works orders drastically reduced . Once purchasing was under control , stock holding was the next area that benefitted . As a result of more strategic purchasing , better visibility of forward orders and parts history and only ordering what they needed , BPE was able to reduce stock by 25 %.
